Sea Stories in Stone

A Brown Bag Lecture Presented at the
Maine Maritime Museum, Bath, Maine
July 28th, 2004

The 24 gravestone photographs and stories that follow were prepared for presentation at the Maine Maritime Museum as part of the museum's 2004 Brown Bag Lecture Series.

These are the stories of two dozen Mainers who lived in the 19th Century, and whose lives were shaped by the maritime nature of the Maine's coastal economy and social conditions.

Although these people were "regular folk" their stories are not always "ordinary".
